The Slight

The aspiring designer who grew up on that franchise eventually became a real one. Cultural footprint in the city, work that moved through the community without his name on it, the kind of résumé that should have at least opened a door. That door never opened. When the team hit rock bottom and announced a design contest, he entered. They never responded. The design they chose he considered well beneath the brief. He quit thirty years of fandom in a single afternoon, which is the only proportionate response to finding out that the organization you built an identity around never noticed you existed.
